- Check your car seat configuration
- Check the harness for proper position and fit
- Check your installation
The weather is changing and Spring is finally here. Sunshine and warmer temperatures mean flowers are blooming and trees are growing. And sometimes kids grow too! A sudden growth spurt may mean it’s time to move from rear-facing to forward-facing, switching from a lower LATCH installation to a seat belt installation, or it might be time to graduate from a five-point harness to a belt positioning booster like the Monterey XT. It’s also a great time to double check the harness position and fit on your child’s car seat. Proper harness fit should be snug, and harness slot position changes whether your child is rear-facing or forward-facing: At or below for rear-facing, at or above for forward-facing.

If you’re planning your Spring Cleaning, don’t forget the car! Break out the vacuum and suck up all those crumbs, wrappers and other “left overs.” Don’t forget to clean your car seat too! Most covers, like those on our radian rXT, are removable and washable (check your manual for specifics). Check to make sure debris hasn’t gotten down into the buckles or other moving parts of the seat, and give the shell a good wipe down (again, refer to your manual for instructions). Now is also the perfect time to check your car seat installation.
